“It is recommended not to expose yourself to the sun for prolonged periods and, if necessary, hydrate as much as possible,” recommends Insivumeh in light of the high temperatures expected this week in the national territory.
The Insivumeh detailed the above in its bulletin, in which it explained what the weather conditions will be like in Guatemala from Monday, May 27 to Friday, May 1, 2026.
The prognosis is that warm conditions will continue in the national territory, as well as areas with morning fog, a warm environment during the day, little cloudiness and the possibility of scattered rains with electrical activity in southern regions.
The Insivumeh highlighted that the prevailing weather conditions are favorable for the proliferation of forest fire outbreaks.
What will the weather be like in the capital?
On the central plateau, which includes the capital, there will be areas with fog in the early hours of the morning, a partially cloudy environment that will alternate with little cloudiness, warm and humid. In addition, an increase and development of cloud cover is expected in the afternoon and evening.
The wind will predominate from the south and southwest, light to moderate in the afternoon.
Maximum temperatures:
- The capital: 30°C to 32°C
- Central and western highlands: 26°C to 33°C
Pacific regions
The forecast is for little cloudiness, a warm and humid environment, with an increase and development of cloudiness in the afternoon and night, and the possibility of scattered rains with electrical activity. Wind from the south and southwest, light to moderate.
- Maximum temperatures: 36°C to 38°C
Northern region (Petén)
Areas with morning fog, little cloud cover and warm, hazy atmosphere during the day. Southeast wind, light.
- Maximum temperatures: 40°C to 42°C
Alta Verapaz, Caribbean and Northern Transversal Strip
Areas with fog or mist in the early hours of the morning and night, little cloudiness and a warm and misty atmosphere during the day. Increase and development of cloudiness in the afternoon and evening. Northeast wind, light.
- Maximum temperatures: Alta Verapaz: 31 °C to 33 °C; Caribbean: 35°C to 37°C
Motagua region and the eastern valleys
Sectors with morning fog, little cloud cover and a warm and foggy atmosphere during the day. Increase and development of cloudiness in the afternoon and evening. Northeast wind, light.
