Striker Viktor Gyökeres opened the scoring for Arsenal by converting a penalty in the 43rd minute of the first half, while Julián Álvarez leveled the score by scoring from twelve steps in the 10th minute of the second half.

Atlético de Madrid came close to stretching the lead to a tie with a bomb by Antoine Griezmann that hit the post, in the 62nd minute of the second stage.
