They order a trial against his former lawyer and family for alleged fraud

The Argentine Justice ordered this Tuesday that he go to trial the last lawyer and representative of Diego Armando Maradona, Matías Morla, along with the former soccer player’s sisters, Rita Mabel and Claudia Norma Maradona, among others, accused of having defrauded the heirs of the Argentine idol in the management of their trademarks.

The National Court in Criminal and Correctional No. 43 rejected the request for dismissal presented by the accused and ended the investigation stage, opening the way to the oral trial.

In addition to Morla and the Maradona sisters, the former player’s assistants, Maximiliano Pomargo and Sergio Garmendia, as well as the notary Sandra Iampolsky, will also be judged.

According to the accusation, all of them would have harmed Maradona’s legitimate heirs through the administration of a company that controlled 246 trademarks linked to the former soccer player, who died on November 25, 2020.

The judicial resolution indicates that, although the The company Sattvica SA was listed in the name of Morla and Pomargo, in practice it operated under the guidelines of Maradona himself.

After his death, in the succession process, it was ordered to transfer all the brands to his heirs – his children Dalma, Gianinna, Jana, Diego Fernando and Diego Junior – but Morla refused to comply with this provision.

Later, according to the investigation, the company’s shares were transferred to Maradona’s sisters, although Morla would have continued to play a key role in the decisions.

According to the Court, these actions would have generated an undue economic benefit, failing to fulfill their responsibilities and harming the interests of the heirs.

At the end of 2025, Maradona’s sisters had already been prosecuted as necessary participants in the crime of fraudulent administration, and last February the ban on using the brand was also ratified.

The decision is known while the new trial for Maradona’s death progresses, in parallel, in which seven health professionals face charges of simple homicide with possible intent.

At this Tuesday’s hearing, Rita Mabel Maradona testified, who once again pointed out the former soccer player’s daughters, ensuring that “they said they were going to take responsibility for their father.”
