Starting this Wednesday, May 6, there will be important changes in vehicular circulation around Plaza España, in zone 9 of the capital, due to the progress of the work on the AeroMetro project Guatemala in its Station One.
Transit authorities explained that the work is advancing towards a new phase, which includes the installation of the electromechanical system, which requires temporary adjustments to be made in mobility to allow the continuity of construction without completely suspending traffic.
The main impact will be concentrated on 12th Street, between 6th Street. avenue and Plaza España, where lane reductions and specific closures are recorded due to maneuvers with heavy machinery and crane work.
Amílcar Montejo, PMT road spokesman, explained that the lane coming from El Trébol, which goes to Montúfar Street, will have changes, since if the vehicle is traveling on the left lane it must turn onto lane 5a. avenue. There will be a section against the road on 11th street to get to 7th street. avenue, he added.
In addition, if you drive in the reversible lane on Liberación Boulevard towards Montúfar Street, on the right lane you can turn onto the 4th lane. avenue to reach 14 street in zone 9.
12th street, from 6th. at the 7th. avenue, has two lanes; The one on the right side will be blocked, while the left track will be enabled to reach Plaza España. You can also use 10th and 11th streets as alternative routes to get around from 7th. avenue to La Castellana avenue.
As part of the temporary mobility plan, streets such as 11 and 10a., along with 6a. avenue, become key routes to redistribute vehicular circulation, according to the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT).
In addition, Montúfar Street will function as a connection route to 4a. and 5a. avenues, which will allow strategic detours to avoid congestion in the intervened area.
The routes have color-differentiated signage and operational support from PMT agents, who will coordinate circulation.
The authorities recommended that drivers plan their routes, use navigation applications and consider additional travel times while the AeroMetro works progress in this sector of the capital.
