Jorge Aparicio broke his silence after the expulsion he suffered in the first leg final against Municipal and acknowledged that he is experiencing one of the hardest weeks of his career. “Those are those days that as a footballer you don’t want to have,” stated the captain of Xelajú MC, who regretted having left the team with ten players in the first leg.
The midfielder explained that he did remember that he had a yellow card before committing the foul on Rudy Muñoz, but he decided to avoid it because he considered that a dangerous play could arise. “If I didn’t stop it, it would possibly be a scoring opportunity for them,” declared Aparicio about the action that cost him the expulsion.
After the departure of the Altense captain, Municipal took advantage of the numerical superiority and scored three consecutive goals to close the first leg final with a resounding 4-1 at El Trébol. Cristian Hernández, Alejandro Cabeza and Pedro Altán sealed the scarlet lead heading into the return leg.
Despite the hard blow and missing the decisive match at the Mario Camposeco, Aparicio assured that the group maintains confidence facing the final duel. “As a leader we turn the page and I hope that the expression in the dressing room is one of positivism,” expressed the super-chico footballer.
The key to the comeback according to Aparicio
Jorge Aparicio assured that patience will be essential for Xelajú MC to seek a comeback this Saturday at the Mario Camposeco stadium. The superchivo captain believes that the team should not despair despite the 4-1 adverse score against Municipal.
“The environment became accustomed to supporting until the last seconds,” stated the midfielder, remembering the recent comebacks against Antigua GFC and Cobán Imperial. In addition, he highlighted that maintaining concentration and moving the ball calmly will be vital to finding the first goal.
In the absence of Aparicio due to suspension, coach Roberto Hernández will have to choose his replacement in the midfield. Maynor de León and Harim Quezada appear as the main options for the decisive duel that will be directed by Mario Escobar Toca.
