The 55-year-old adventurer from Mannheim will travel through 75 countries with his team, arriving in New Zealand on the eastern part of the route and later on to Vancouver, Canada, on the western part. Whenever there are roads, the team will travel on the four wheels of the vehicle, making only necessary breaks for boat trips and customs procedures.
“With the 86 kWh battery of the ID. Buzz we can achieve a range of more than 400 kilometers per charge. This allows me to also travel stages in sparsely populated areas of the route,” explains Zietlow.
Your ID. Buzz corresponds to the commercial version, although it incorporates an additional on-board charger that allows it to receive high-voltage alternating current (AC, up to 125 A) and convert it into direct current (DC) in places where fast chargers do not exist or where different charging standards are used.
Zietlow has extensive experience: “So far I have traveled to more than 110 countries and I have already reached Qatar with the predecessor of the ID.Buzz.” For this new adventure he dedicated approximately a year of preparation.
“We are very impressed by Rainer’s courage and experience to undertake a world tour like this,” says Lars Krause, member of the brand’s Board of Directors.
Those interested can follow the journey in www.idbuzz-worldtour.comwhere the current location and reports of the different stages of the route will be published.
