Considered one of the best video games in history, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will return with a remake to challenge new generations and bring back memories for adults. The Japanese company announced, through a Nintendo Direct, that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will arrive in 2026.
Nintendo reissued its 1998 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timeand will bring it to Nintendo Switch 2, for which it will carry out a complete reconstruction of the title. However, as highlighted The Countrywill have “a completely renewed visual section.”
The return of this video game would mark an ambitious project for Nintendo, which will bring Link back to this adventure, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the saga.
The presentation was made through a trailer that shows the long-awaited return of Zelda. The plot takes the audience to learn more about the origins of Hyrule, the land created by divine beings. In this place there was a forest inhabited by the kokiri, who during their childhood were accompanied by a fairy.
But among them there was one who had no fairy. The images show Link asleep while the Triforce shines in his hand, an introduction that announces the return of the video game.
Nintendo did not reveal all the details of this version, but The Country highlights that it would be a reimagining of the video game that premiered on the Nintendo 64 console.
Media such as EFE highlight that Nintendo only announced that it will arrive in 2026, without specifying a release date. This video game was considered one of the best in history because, at its premiere, it showed an immersive three-dimensional world and a novel combat system.

The story of the video game takes the participant on a mission to fight Ganondorf in order to rescue Princess Zelda. The popularity of the video game, highlights EFE, has led to the saga accumulating more than 40 titles.
This title also coincides with the expectation for the franchise’s live-action film, which is in production and would hit theaters in May 2027.
