“Of course I think this team can be champion. If not, I wouldn’t be here. For me it is an absolute gift to be able to be here again. It would be something very special to be world champion for the second time”, he expressed during a press conference at the German base camp in Winston-Salem.
The goalkeeper also admitted that he has begun to think that these could be his last games with his country’s shirtalthough he insists that his attention is on the present.

A Guatemalan camisole for a legend
In the middle of the German concentration, Neuer received a gift that arrived from Guatemala.
It is about a personalized camisole made by the Guatemalan artist Mario Esquivelwho incorporated details inspired by Guatemala in a piece made especially for the historic goalkeeper.
The work was delivered by Omar Pineda, originally from El Progreso, Jutiapawho is currently part of the logistical support team that works with the German team during its stay in North Carolina.
