Although Guatemala has not reported heavy rains like previous years, relief bodies document different emergencies, mainly in the interior of the republic.
The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) documents 539 emergencies nationwide (as of June 20) leaving 2,158 people affected.
The emergencies range from falling trees, with 129 cases, to damaged public infrastructure with 190 reports, as detailed in a Conred report.
The rains have caused 101 people to have to leave their homes to seek protection in shelters, while more than 3,000 have had to be evacuated as preventive measures.
Although the rains have not been as intense as other years, the report shows seven people dead, three injured and five hospitalized due to emergencies caused by the weather.
The homes with slight damage amount to 187; those with moderate damage are 1,614; 80 more have severe damage; and 156 are in a situation considered at risk. 190 roads, six bridges and 13 educational centers are also reported to have been damaged.
According to Conred, these are the confirmed emergencies.
