A man was captured in Quiché, accused of sexual assault against a 10-year-old girl, reported the National Civil Police (PNC).
The arrest was recorded on Monday, July 13, in the village Chiboy 1, San Andrés Sajcabajá, Quiché.
In that place, investigators from the Specialized Criminal Investigation Directorate captured Andrés “N”, 43 years old, accused of sexual assault. The arrest warrant was issued on July 10 by a local court.
The PNC explained that the capture was the result of investigation techniques and the follow-up to an event that occurred on July 1, 2026, which was disseminated on social networks through a video dated June 30.
He added that the recording shows a man sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl, so forensic analysis was essential to identify the suspect.
The Public Ministry (MP) reported that investigators from the fiscal agency of the Quiché Women’s Prosecutor’s Office carried out search, inspection, registration and seizure of evidence in the aforementioned village.
He added that Andrés “N” is being investigated for events that occurred on June 30 in a store in the Camanchaj village, San Andrés Sajcabajá, Quiché.
He also indicated that the incident was captured by video surveillance cameras and later disclosed on social networks.
