Permanent all year round? the bill that seeks to establish daylight saving time in the US

The House of Representatives approved a bill that seeks to permanently implement daylight saving time throughout the year in the United States.

According to CNN, the bill was approved with 308 votes in favor and 117 against, and will now go to the Senate to seek approval.

Characterized by moving clocks forward one hour during the hottest months of the year, the time change has generated diverse opinions.

On the one hand, one sector advocates that the time change be permanent, since it would not affect Americans’ sleep schedules and would reduce the effects of seasonal depression.

Opponents of the change argue that it could hurt farmers, since, according to CNN, they would have to deal with later sunrises.

The media points out that, although the bill was approved by the House of Representatives, the chances of it being well received in the Senate are uncertain.

In addition, CNN cites the National Conference of State Legislatures, which reports that 19 states have promoted laws to make the time change permanent.

However, states that are against this measure can opt out of the change before it takes effect.

This could affect areas of the United States such as Hawaii, much of Arizona and other states that maintain standard time.
