Two women were shot to death inside a home located in the La Línea neighborhood, zone 3 of Sanarate, El Progreso. A baby who was in the building was unharmed, the emergency services reported.
Volunteer firefighters from the 70th Company indicated that they were alerted about an armed attack in the sector and, upon arrival, they evaluated the victims; However, both had already died from gunshot wounds.
The deceased were identified by a family member as Karoly Cariely Ucelo Fajardo, 17, and Eunice Ucelo Fajardo, 24.
According to preliminary information from the Departmental Municipal Firefighters, the two women were attacked inside the house, where there was also a baby who was not injured.
Agents of the National Civil Police guarded the scene while prosecutors and investigators from the Public Ministry carried out procedures to gather evidence and establish the motive for the attack.
The authorities have not reported any arrests or the causes of the incident.
Neighbors of the sector expressed their concern about the acts of violence recorded in the municipality and asked the authorities to reinforce security in the area.
