The Brazilian Casemiro signed this Wednesday for the Inter Miami, reported the club, which detailed that the midfielder’s contract will extend until May of next year, when the contract will end. Sprint Season of the MLSwith the option to extend it until June 2029.
“What motivates me the most, and I think this is true for all players, is winning and continuing to grow. The project that the club presented to me, along with the effort that everyone made to bring me here, means a lot to me,” the footballer said in a statement. Casemiro won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
Casemiro joins Inter Miami as a free agent, after his contract with Manchester United ended in June, a club with which he won two titles: the 2022-23 League Cup and the 2023-24 FA Cup.
The midfielder recently played in the World Cup with Brazil, a team that was eliminated in the round of 16 by Norway. At Inter Miami he will share a team with the Argentine Lionel Messi, with whom he starred in numerous classics between Real Madrid and Barcelona and whom he also faced on several occasions with the Brazilian national team.
However, his incorporation into the squad is pending obtaining a work permit, Inter Miami clarified. The arrival of Casemiro seeks to strengthen the team’s defensive zone, which in recent seasons has depended largely on its offensive capacity, led by Messi. Furthermore, the departure of Sergio Busquets at the end of last season increased that fragility in the current campaign.
Inter Miami is the current MLS champion, although the 2026 season did not start in the best way. The Florida team was eliminated in the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions Cup, its main objective this year, and occupies second place in the Eastern Conference.
