Netflix made official the purchase of InterPositive, the artificial intelligence (AI) company created by American actor Ben Affleckfor which he paid a million-dollar figure.

Through a document filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the platform streaming revealed the amount it invested to acquire the company dedicated to creating AI models.

According to the report, Netflix paid approximately US$587 million in cash for the acquisitioncarried out “as a business combination.”

The document was included in the 10-Q form that the company filed on Friday, July 17 and, although it avoids specifically mentioning Ben Affleck’s company, refers to the agreement of March 5, when Netflix made public the acquisition of InterPositive.

The artificial intelligence company was founded in 2022 in Los Angeles by the American actor. Your goal is create AI models based on the diaries of an existing production, for filmmakers to incorporate into the post-production process.

The company’s first model was trained “to understand visual logic and editorial consistency, while preserving cinematographic rules in the face of real production challenges, such as missed shots, background replacements or incorrect lighting,” the actor explained in a statement.
