In search of being recognized for his own merits and not for his family ties, the content creator and dancer Valentino Martín shared a strong message for his followers and Internet users, who constantly compare him with his father, Ricky Martin.
The 17-year-old content creator highlighted that on his social networks it has become common to compare him with his father and detract from the effort he has made to perform in dance, attributing his talent solely to the inheritance of Enrique Martín Morales.
Valentino Martín has begun to build a career on social networks, where he shares aspects of his life and his passion for dance. However, he recently posted a video in which he talked about the importance of respecting his identity. Although he stressed that he loves his father, he noted that he does not want to be known only as the artist’s son.
“My name is Valentino Martín, not Ricky Martín. What I am saying is that, please, do not compare me with my father,” he stressed. He added that, when they talk about him on the internet, they always refer to him as “Ricky Martín’s son.”
He stressed that, whenever there is news about his life, it is common for him to be identified as “Valentino, Ricky Martín’s son”, “Ricky Martín’s son” or “one of Ricky Martín’s twins”. Although he acknowledged that there is a family bond, he asked to be called by his name: Valentino Martín.
He also told Internet users that, if they are going to follow him on social networks, it is not because he is the singer’s son, but because they know who Valentino Martín is.
Likewise, he respectfully asked that they stop comparing him with his father, using their networks to tell him how much they love the singer or detracting from his work by pointing out that his talent for dancing is only inherited, leaving aside the effort he has made.
“My dad will always be with me. Because I’m going to love him however I want. But all those dances that you see from me have nothing to do with talent. All of that is hard work for me.”
