Six months after the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of the show’s host TodaySavannah Guthrie, the letters that the alleged kidnappers would have sent to the woman’s relatives have been made public.

Univisión details that the letters were disclosed by journalist and researcher Briana Whitney during a conversation on the podcast Crime Junkie.

In the letters, the alleged kidnappers reportedly warned the Guthrie family that they must comply with their demands, that they would hold Nancy for “approximately a week” and that the authorities could do nothing in the case.

“Hello Savannah. We have your mom, Nancy. She is safe, but scared. We will hold her for ransom and once we receive payment, we will release her unharmed. We will hold her for up to 7 days,” the letter stated.

According to Whitney, this first letter would have been sent to the Guthrie family during the first days after Nancy disappeared.

It is detailed that the alleged kidnappers demanded US$4 million and that this amount would increase to US$6 million if the family did not comply with the established deadline.

“Once payment is received at the Bitcoin address below, it will be released within 12 hours of deposit to a secure return delivery location in Tucson,” the letter said.

The kidnappers would have warned that Nancy “was going to be murdered” if the family did not make the payment before the last deadline, which was last February 9.

“Your mother is aware of this and her life is in your hands,” the alleged kidnappers would indicate.

Finally, and in a threatening tone, the kidnappers warned Savannah and her family: “Don’t make the list, because the authorities won’t be able to help you with this.”
