The photographs spread by the authorities show how the operation carried out inside the penitentiary center last Thursday, July 23, 2026, developed.

In them, dozens of prisoners can be seen under the strong security device, while they were mobilized by agents equipped with bulletproof vests and helmets.

Some keep their hands behind their heads during movement inside the prison, waiting to board the vehicles that took them out of the prison for transport.

The 34 prisoners were distributed among the penal farms of Pavón, Canada and Cantel.

Although the authorities classified them as highly dangerous inmates and indicated that the transfer seeks to affect criminal structures that operated from the Puerto Barrios prison, they did not reveal the identity of the inmates or the crimes for which they are serving sentences.

Confiscations Block

The operation also left a large inventory of prohibited objects, which were exposed in another of the images released by the authorities. In it, dozens of cell phones, televisions, radios, an internet router, speakers, liquor, drugs and other items can be seen placed in an orderly manner on a prison patio.

According to the Penitentiary System, during the search, 55 cell phones and 14 televisions were located, in addition to liquor and drugs.

The Guatemalan Army presented a broader inventory that includes 57 telephones, electronic devices, communication radios, solar panels, sharp objects, drugs of different types and other prohibited belongings.
