The delegation of Guatemala won two new gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, through the badminton pair of Cristopher Martínez and Jonathan Solís, and the golfer José Toledo.
In badminton, Martínez and Solís became champions in the men’s doubles category by defeating Mexicans Armando Gaitán and Job Castillo 2-1 in sets.
The Guatemalan duo lost the first set, tied the match by winning the second and completed the comeback in the third to secure the gold medal.
José Toledo, for his part, won the gold medal in golf after finishing in first place in the competition held in Punta Cana, where he completed the four days of the tournament to secure the title.
These results are added to the gold medals obtained by Alejandra Higueros, in poomsae; Faberson Bonilla, in skating; the skeet team made up of Sebastián Bermúdez, Carlos Padilla and Santiago Romero, who also established a Central American record, and Kevin Cordón, in badminton.

With these results, Guatemala has six gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 and continues to increase its medal haul.
