The blue and white flag flew again at the top of the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. On Wednesday, July 29, one day after the second anniversary of the bronze medal obtained by Jean Pierre Brol at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Guatemala added a new title thanks to Jean Pierre, Hebert and Fernando Brol, who won the men’s trap team event.

The Guatemalan shooters shot down 320 dishes, a result with which they established a new Central American and Caribbean record and won the gold medal.

The national team maintained a consistent performance throughout the competition and outperformed the rest of the participating delegations. The experience of Jean Pierre Brol, along with the performance of Hebert and Fernando, allowed Guatemala to dominate the event and secure first place on the podium.

With this result, Guatemala confirmed its good moment in the competition and also the national delegation continues to add medals and climb positions in the medal table thanks to the performance of its athletes.

The medal won by the Brol brothers represents the seventh gold for Guatemala in these events and consolidates the performance of the national delegation.

The previous gold medals were obtained by Alejandra Higueros, in poomsae; Faberson Bonilla, in skating; the skeet team made up of Sebastián Bermúdez, Carlos Padilla and Santiago Romero, which also set a Central American record; and Kevin Cordón, in badminton, Christopher Martínez and Jonathan Solís in men’s doubles badminton and José Manuel Toledo in golf. Guatemala thus achieved its seventh gold medal in the 2026 Games and has options to expand its medal haul in the remaining days.
