A lucky citizen of Bradenton, Florida, won more than $803 million by hitting the most recent Mega Millions lottery jackpot.
The drawing took place on July 28 and authorities and lottery organizers are still searching for the person who matched the winning numbers.
The winning numbers were 34-48-49-59-70 and the golden Mega Ball was number 12.
Organizers and American media reported that the winning ticket was purchased at the Wawa located at 14510 State Road 70 E.
The winner has two options to claim the prize: receive the full amount in 30 annual payments, which can even increase 5% each year, or accept a single cash payment.
If the person chooses the second option, they will not receive the full prize, but rather a single payment of US$345.5 million.
Added to that amount is a 24% tax withholding, required by the Internal Revenue Service for prizes over US$5 thousand.
If the winner decides to receive the lump sum payment, they will have to pay approximately US$82.92 million in taxes, so the final amount would be US$262.58 million.
As of this writing, the winner had not yet been identified.
