Eight people, accused of alleged fraud, were captured by the National Civil Police (PNC), after being reported by residents of Mataquescuintla, Jalapa.

The PNC reported this Thursday, July 30, that the prompt intervention of agents from Police Station 22 allowed the capture of eight alleged criminals, who were being held by about 300 residents in the Calvario canton, Mataquescuintla.

According to the information, the mob accused those now captured of deceiving several people with supposed prizes in exchange for money.

Those captured were identified as Marlen “N”, 26 years old; Lesly “N”, 32; Eswin “N”, 25; Yoni “N”, 29; Cristian “N”, 31; Silvestre “N”, 37; Jairon “N”, 40, and Óscar “N”, 42.

According to neighbors’ complaints, those captured allegedly worked for a business that operates at fairs, where they offered prizes.

According to information from the PNC, the suspects requested various amounts of money from the victims to cash in the supposed benefit during raffles, which those affected considered a deception.
