The repair works on Martí Street, one of the main roads that connects zones 2, 6 and 1 of Guatemala City with the peripheral ring and the exit to the Atlantic, continue this Tuesday, May 20.
During this day, considerable improvement in vehicular traffic has been observed, especially in the journeys from zone 6 to zones 1 and 2, as well as from zone 18 to zone 6. This improvement is attributed to the regulation of the traffic carried out by personnel of the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) at different points.
The capital mayor, Ricardo Quiñónez, indicated that the deployment of machinery has been reinforced with the aim of advancing at greater pace in the works, which are projected for an approximate duration of six months, with double work days, 24 hours a day, the seven days of the week.
The mayor also stressed that the intervention in this artery represents a logistics challenge due to the high flow of private vehicles and heavy transport. To mitigate the inconvenience, a permanent operation of the PMT has been implemented that seeks to coordinate traffic and reduce affectations in nearby sectors.
This project is part of the Mobility Plan of the Municipality of Guatemala, which aims to improve road infrastructure and reduce vibration levels that currently affect surrounding homes.

The work will cover the section between the 12 “A” avenue in zone 2 and the beginning of the Belize bridge, executing in three phases:
