The Third Chamber of the Court of Appeals, at the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (FECI) of the Public Ministry (MP), ordered the capture of the former head of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG) and current Colombian ambassador to the Vatican, Iván Velásquez Gómez, and Luz Adrian Justice, influences and collusion in the Odebrecht case, the Prosecutor’s Office reported on Monday.
The Chief of the FECI, Rafael Curruchiche, informed that the Court decreed the rebellion and arrest warrant against Telma Esperanza Aldana Hernández, former general general of Guatemala, and Mayra Johana Véliz López, former secretary general of the MP.
In addition, he explained that the Order also includes Juan Francisco Sandoval Alfaro, former Chief of the FECI, and Eva Xiomara Sosa Pérez, former attachment of the attached section of the same Prosecutor’s Office.
The list of people sought extends to Juan Pablo Carrasco de Groot, former president of the Guatemalan-American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham); Luis David Gaitán Arana, ex -president of the CICIG; Already the former Feci, Rudy Manolo Herrera Lemus and Ami Mayra Lissed Girón Rodas.
Curruchiche reported in a message broadcast on the social networks of the MP that has judicially requested the issuance of an interpol alert so that these people can be detained in any country where they are. According to Guatemalan authorities, the criminal structure, allegedly led by Iván Velázquez Gómez, would have favored entrepreneurs of the construction company Odebrecht, causing losses to the state of Guatemala for more than Q3 billion.
