In the city of Reynosa, state of Tamaulipas, border with the United States, the authorities arrested three alleged members of a criminal group linked to the Gulf Cartel (CDG). They were confiscated weapons, cartridges, drugs, cash and vehicles. The three are involved in the murder of five members of a musical group.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, it was reported that agents of the Ministry of National Defense (Defense), Attorney General’s Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) and Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC) fulfilled three investigation orders in the same number of real estate, where they arrested the three subjects.
According to official sources and local media, the detainees are Santos “N”, aka “M-47” or “Jimmy”; Raúl “N”; and Jesús Alejandro “N”. They were assured two long weapons, three short weapons, 400 cartridges, three kilos of cocaine, about four kilos of methamphetamine, 14 doses of marijuana, Q800,000 (about 41,000 dollars) and 12 vehicles.
According to reports, Santos “N” is considered chief operational of the Gulf Cartel, faction “meters”, and nearby collaborator of César “N”, aka “El Primito”, head of the aforementioned cell and one of the main generators of violence in Tamaulipas.
In addition, he is pointed out as the possible intellectual author in the illegal deprivation of liberty and execution of five fugitive group members.
On May 29, the Attorney General of Tamaulipas confirmed the lifeless discovery of the five members of the group, who had disappeared on Sunday, May 25.
At a press conference, the state prosecutor, Irving Barrios, informed that, after the discovery, nine people allegedly related to the disappearance and death of the musicians were arrested.
The official explained that, according to the first investigations, it was established that the members of the group were deprived of their liberty around 10 pm on Sunday, May 25, when they moved in a truck to a private event in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, for which they had been hired.
After that, the authorities carried out an operation that allowed the arrest of nine individuals, allegedly responsible for the crime, who, according to the investigations, are members of the Gulf Cartel, a faction “The meters”, which operates in Reynosa.
In the statement, it was explained that, after the murder of the five musicians, the authorities developed various lines of investigation, which managed to locate three homes where members of the criminal group linked to the fact were protected, who were captured. On Tuesday, groups and family had denounced the disappearance of musicians, identified as Francisco Xavier Vázquez Osorio, 20; Nemesio Antonio Durán Rodríguez, 40; Liván Edyberto Solís de la Rosa, 27; Víctor Manuel Garza Cervantes, 21; and José Francisco Morales Martínez, 23.
