Three doctors and three medical students were surprised by ingesting alcoholic beverages within the Departmental Hospital of Sololá and during working hours. The finding was reported by monitors of the Comptroller General of Accounts (CGC) that carried out supervision as part of the controlled municipality program.
According to the director of the health center, Luis Ramón Girón, the decision of terminate the profession of professionalswhile in the case of undergraduate students – of the fourth and fifth year of the career – the administrative and disciplinary measures that will be applied before the fault committed are analyzed jointly.
The CGC report indicates that an inspection was made at the hospital between 10 pm on Wednesday, May 28 and 3.00 on Thursday, May 29.
Around 1.00 hours on Thursday, the monitors heard “unusual noises” in the room assigned to male doctors. Upon entering, they found Three doors on duty and three students who were eating pizza and ingesting beer.
The report emphasizes that this “constitutes a serious offense when it is a health installation and, in addition, in working hours.”
He adds that said staff refused to answer the questions about their behavior and that the three students tried to retire from the hospital at 1.53 hours, although only one of them had a 24 -hour shift that ended at 7.00.
However, Girón explained that the students’ schedule in the health center ends at 9:00 p.m., so the three were out of practice.
The CGC monitors took photographs and videos of beer cans found in the place, which were collected as visual evidence. It was indicated that Preventive notes were sent to the authorities for the evaluation of possible administrative and disciplinary sanctions For doctors and practitioners involved.
Repercussions

He mentioned that they reviewed the security cameras inside the hospital and observed that doctors and students remained for an hour and a half in the room where they were surprised drinking, around 1.00 hours.
