With the same commitment to foster the habit of reading, bibliodiversity and the circulation of the book in Guatemala, The International Book Fair celebrates its XXII edition. On this occasion, Filgua will offer free admission to various sectors and deliver books to students from public institutions.
The activity is scheduled from July 1 to 13, 2025 and will bring together national and international writers, artists, exhibitors and readers, as part of a cultural coexistence. Filgua authorities highlight that this activity, beyond being an authors encounter, “is a space where critical thinking, literary creation and cultural dialogue converge, promoting access to reading in Guatemalan society.”
Forum Majadas, in Zone 11 of Guatemala City, will be the central stage of the fair, where 154 books will be presented, including 36 international authors. In addition, the event will have 152 activities aimed at children, 11 concerts by national artists, book signing and conversations, which makes this edition an event for the whole family.
With the motto “We are going for a country of more readers”, Filgua informed that this year Admission will be free for children under 12, students with current card and older adults. For the student sector, admission will be valid with university, school or public institution.
Another of the surprises that the International Book Fair 2025 brings is the free distribution of 20 educational books, which will be delivered to public schools.
“Each edition reinforces the country’s commitment to literature, creating an inclusive environment that allows all audiences to access knowledge and the stories that define our time,” said Diana López, president of the Guatemala editors union association.
Within the facilities, 163 literary and artistic stands will be enabled so that the public enjoys genres such as fiction, poetry and historical novels. The Illustrators contest and the traditional Intener Reading Contest will also be held.
For the general public, the entrance will cost Q5 per person. Tickets can be acquired online through a ticketera that will be enabled by the organization in the next few days.
