They investigate attack against the army captain who was traveling with their children

Investigations to find those responsible for the Armed attack against Maribel by Jesús Molina Cárcamo47, Captain of the Army of Guatemala, they are already being carried out.

The Public Ministry (MP) reported only that it performs the corresponding proceedings to clarify who were responsible and what were the reasons that originated the attack against Molina Cárcamo, who is an assimilated captain of the Guatemala army.

The attack occurred on June 10 at the Mateo Flores Calzada and 33 Avenue in Zone 7, when Captain Molina was driven in a sedan vehicle in the company of her two children, 11 and 9 years old, who left unharmed.

According to witnesses, the attack would have been perpetrated by men who were driving on a motorcycle, who, by identifying the victim’s vehicle, opened fire and subsequently fled the scene.

Under medical care

After the attack, Molina was transferred to the Military Medical Center, in zone 16, where he receives medical attention as a result of a bullet wound in the skull.

According to information provided by the military institution, its status is stable, although it remains under observation due to the wound caused by its attackers.

The information also indicates that Maribel de Jesús Molina Cárcamo is a cardiologist by profession, he has been working since the year 2007 for the Ministry of Defense and obtained the degree of assimilated captain of the Guatemala army, since he has provided his services in the Military Brigade Mariscal Zavala.

Second attack in less than six months

This is the second attack that occurs in similar conditions against women members of the Guatemala army in this year 2025.

The first occurred in January, in the immediate vicinity of kilometer 13 of the Roosevelt road, zone 3 of Mixco, where Captain Ingrid Amanda Morente was attacked, who was driving her vehicle in the company of her daughter, who was unharmed. The fact was documented in a video broadcast on social networks.

The MP investigations revealed that the crime was perpetrated by a criminal structure called the “motoladrones”, dismantled in March of this year by means of an operation carried out by agents of the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigation (DEIC) of the National Civil Police, which led to the capture of nine members of said structure.

Captain Ingrid Morente, 32, worked as an escort of vice president Karin Herrera, in the presidential guard, and was active within the Armed Forces since 2011.
