The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) of the capital informs that this Monday, June 16, vehicular mobility is affected in some points in zone 1 of the capital due to demonstrations.
Amílcar Montejo, Road spokesman of the PMT, reported that a few weeks ago Unionized teachers began a demonstration in the Plaza de la Constitución; However, for this beginning of the week they changed mode.
He explained that now the group of teachers blocks the passage on the 7th Avenue and 9th Street, as well as on the 8th Avenue and 6th Calle, the section of the 6th Avenue and 4th Street, and the 5th Street and 5th Avenue.
Montejo indicated that another group of protesters is on the 6th Avenue and 6th Street.
He added that there are complications in the transit in the historic center, so it suggested as alternate routes the sections closest to Elena Avenue, the Colón Park, the Civic Center and the area of the 1st street, between zones 1 and 2.
On Thursday, June 5, the deadline for the Guatemala (Steg) education workers union deposed the acts that affect the educational activities of the country’s public schools.
However, on its official Facebook page, the Steg spoke on the measures taken by the Government and warned that it will continue on strike, in which they propose a series of requests to the corresponding authorities.
