Asystematic contemplations It is the name of the first exhibition of the Scarabées collective, a project led by two Guatemalan designers who combine art and fashion to offer a sensory experience in which memory and emotions converge through pieces such as textiles and jeweler’s.
Scarabées (beetle), a name that evokes transformation, mysticism and strength, is the creative project of Guatemalan designers Valeria Marroquín and Andrea Santos, who joined talent and vision to break with the molds of traditional fashion. His proposal seeks to diversify the panorama of contemporary design and offer pieces that allow people to express their identity authentically.
“Each garment is a personal statement and, at the same time, an emotional file: fabrics loaded with stories, pieces of memories and symbols of different stages of life,” describe the artists.
In the tour there are expressions that invite to reflect on freedom, nostalgia and moments captured through photography, embroidery, macramé, xylography and mixed techniques. Some works integrate personal elements, such as Andrea’s wedding dress or flowers from past celebrations, resignifying them from art.
