Negotiations between residents and authorities in Río Dulce fail, where clashes between riot and protesters are already reported.
The negotiations between authorities and residents who have blocked roads for three days in Río Dulce, Livingston, Izabal, failed this Wednesday, June 18, when the departure of an official was prevented and a squad of riot agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) was prevented.
The protests began as a rejection of mining exploitation in the Sierra Santa Cruz, so representatives of at least 54 communities took the roads and prevent the passage of vehicles.
The dissatisfied require the authorities of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Energy and Mines that guarantee that no mining company will operate in said green area, since they ensure that the water supply depends for the families of the place.
Local media have published videos in which there are moments of tension in the place, where at least one injured person is already reported.
