Five members of a family – among them, men, women and children – were massacred at dawn on Thursday, June 19 at the Retalteco hamlet, municipality of Las Cruces, Petén, according to local media reports.
According to those publications, a group of armed men broke into the family’s house and shot their occupants.
In the place the death of three people was reported, while two others died in a health center in the crosses.
Two other injured people were transferred to the National Hospital of San Benito.
The authorities have not revealed details of the incident or the identities of the victims.
