Between March 13 and 14, 2025, two important astronomical phenomena will occur: A total lunar eclipse and the Full moon. The eclipse will occur between both dates, while the lunar phase is expected only for day 14.
According to the Guatemalan astronomer Edgar Castro, andLunar Total Eclipse will coincide with the full moon of this month. According to the specialist, this type of eclipse occurs because the nodes of the sun, the earth and the moon will be aligned.
The nodes are the centers of the aforementioned stars and these will be aligned: “So, the shadow of the earth will cover the moon”, Adds Castro.
In this regard, NASA affirms that when the alignment between these stars occurs, the moon crosses the shadow of the earth. Therefore, our only satellite is positioned within the darkest part of the shadow of the earth, called Umbra and Luce Rediza. For this reason, these types of eclipse are known as “blood moon”.
What time do you see the total lunar eclipse this March 13 and 14, 2025 in Guatemala?
According to Castro, The phases of the total moon eclipse will be seen at different times. Next, the schedule in which each will be visible is listed.
- Beginning of the Penumbra (P1): March 13, 21.57 hours
- Umbra Start (U1): March 13, 23.09 hours
- Start of the totality (U2): March 14, 00.25 hours
- Maximum eclipse: March 14, 00.58 hours
- Full (U3): March 14, 1.32 hours
- End of the umbra (U4): March 14, 2.48 hours
- End of the gloom (P4): March 14, 4 hours
It is important to remember that the visibility of these events depends on climatic conditions. If you want to see the eclipse, it is important to use the appropriate binoculars for better appreciation.
