The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) reported that, as part of the preventive actions in the face of the effusive eruption of the Fire Volcano, coordinated the closure and control of traffic on National Route 14, which communicates Escuintla and Sacatepéquez.
He asked motorists to follow the indications of local authorities.
The Municipality of Alotenango reported that, due to the activity of the colossus, it was closed at kilometer 83 due to the descent of pyroclastic material in the Las Lajas ravine.
Local media have reported that, although there was notice of the closure of the route, several pilots have decided to circulate on the section, but have been stranded.

Some people have chosen to walk at the edge of the road to reach their destination.
The Insivumeh has reported that the colossus continues in activity with pyroclastic flows and ash emission, affecting the departments of Chimaltenango, Escuintla, Sacatepéquez, Sololá and Totonicapán.
