Luis Fernando Tena confirmed at a press conference an encouraging news for The interests of the Guatemala selection This March 13.
It was during an activity prior to the training of the bicolor at the facilities of the High Performance Center (CAR) that the Mexican coach confirmed that Nathaniel Méndez-Laing would be part of the payroll that will face Guyana in a double-game elimination series to classify the Gold Cup of Concacaf 2025.
According to Luis Fernando Tena’s report, Méndez-Laing is willing to join the Guatemala team even though will be fresh from an injury that has departed from the playing land for a few weeks already.
Natez-laing had suffered an injury to one of his knees, so, as Tena said, he had already been ruled out for the next parties in the section, however, Méndez-Laing improved faster than expected and now It would be available to the Mexican coaching staff.
“He wants to come, we have to wait for what his doctor in England tells us. We had already ruled out, fortunately he has improved more than we would believe, but it is likely, not sure, that he reaches us in Miami,” said the Bicolor coach.
The plan is that Derby County soccer player joins the payroll that will move on Sunday, March 16 to Fort Lauderdale, USA to play a friendly match against the selection of Honduras in the Chase Stadium at 1 pm.
This meeting will be the only trial of the bicolor before playing against Guyana between March 21 and 25 for the preliminaries of the Gold Cup.
The winner of this tie June 14 to July 6.
