The Public Ministry reported March 14 that two agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) were linked to the crime of abuse of authority.
According to the report that the MP published on social networks, the agents identified as Edyonel Vásquez Rabanales and Byron Osbelí Ramos López would have given different statements about the capture of the same person.
“Both, assigned to the 73-15 substation of the municipality of San Andrés Itzapa, on February 21, 2024, related different events about Sergio Geovanni Quique’s apprehension in the San Lorenzo canton,” says the MP.
The authorities add that the police would have committed the crime of abuse of authority because they did not report what really happened with that apprehension.
Finally, the MP indicated that a competent judge gave the agents an economic bond of Q5 thousand for each.
