What was contemplated as a meeting to discuss proposals for reforms to the Organic Law of the University of San Carlos ended in an emergence of hooded men, who, burning by mortars and bates in hand, forced three official deputies to abandon the Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (ICTA) of Chimaltenango.
For a few days, the official deputies Raúl Qué, Luis Ventura and Byron Obregón had summoned a meeting called dialogue for the Sancarlist dignity, which would take place this Saturday, March 15, at 2:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the ICTA.
Around 40 students had confirmed their participation in the meeting; However, when the time arrived, a group of people with banners against the deputies, whom they questioned about the salary increase entered the room, all covering their face with the posters.
“They didn’t seem students, they had difficulty filling the assistance sheets, they didn’t know their academic unit, they remained,” said Deputy Luis Ventura.
After 20 minutes of staying, a group of hooded men entered who was looking for legislators to leave the facilities, and after 20 more minutes, finally the deputies retired in the midst of screams and insults.
– A group of hooded men came from the capital, some from Santa Rosa, others from Escuintla. We have photographs of the buses here, which, unfortunately, are from the university. This was aimed, comes from Rector Walter Mazariegos against us, ”he explained Qué.
According to Ventura, they are analyzing the legal route to follow and considers that actions must be taken to “sit a precedent.” He added that some Chimaltenango striker groups told them that they were not part of the hooded men who broke up, so they consider that they were carrying people who were looking for “boycott” the meeting.
