Some offices of the National Registry of Persons (RENAP) adjusted their attention schedules due to blockages and protests against mandatory insurance, which seeks to guarantee road responsibility in Guatemala.

The Renap reported that some venues in the capital and Zacapa will have reduced attention schedules due to the manifestations against the mandatory insurance for vehicles, created by the Government.

In a statement, the Renap explained that the measure is due to “the national situation.”

“This Wednesday, March 19, we will attend until 2 pm at the Renap headquarters (Roosevelt Calzada 13-46, Zone 7); Rus Mall (Roosevelt 12-76 Calzada, Zone 7); Zone 9 and Metronorte Office, Zone 17, as well as in the Registry Office and in the Printing Center (CIM), both in Río Hondo, Zacapa,” says the statement.

He adds that attention at these offices will resume on Thursday, March 20 at the usual time. However, users are asked to be attentive to new information through official accounts in social networks.

“We remind you that the RENAP has the Electronic Services portal (Eportal.renap.gob.gt) and the Renap SE application, which allows users to request the replacement of the DPI and the issuance of certifications with a legalized signature easily and safely from anywhere,” says the note.

He adds that, for the registration of deaths, the office located on 11th 5-59, zone 9 of the capital is enabled, with 24-hour attention.

Guatemala lives a second day of protests against government provisions to demand mandatory insurance for third parties to all types of vehicle.

This Wednesday, March 19, at least 34 points of the country are blocked by protesters.
