The National Civil Police (PNC) reported on January 23, 2020 that arrested Alveño Lemus in flagrance in El Progreso, Jutiapa, during an operation against criminal gangs dedicated to drug trafficking.
Six months later, on July 14, the PNC again captured Alveño Lemus in the Las Casitas neighborhood, Agua Blanca, Jutiapa, due to an arrest warrant against him for the crime of theft. Subsequently, he was sent to the El Boquerón prison, in Cuilapa, Santa Rosa.
The information indicates that the deceased could have had links with a structure that operated in white water, Jutiapa; Ipala, chiquimula; San Manuel Chaparrón, Jalapa – where the attack occurred – and nuns, Jalapa.
They added that the alleged structure led by Alveño Lemus gained territory with the help of local authorities, who are investigated.
The researchers pointed out that the shooting possibly began by a fight, although it still investigates who were the other armed subjects.
