More than 200 students from 27 Guatemalan educational centers participated in the Robotics Firts Lego League competition.

More than 200 students participate in the First Lego League of Advanced Computing, a national robotics competition.

Participants are groups of students from 27 educational establishmentswho arrived from 8.00 to Present the projects in which they worked for months.

Luis David, one of the students, explained with his group that they put together a robot Able to collect pieces by means of a specialized arm. Despite the complications, they managed to overcome them.

“Although the experience was complicated, we managed to overcome the things that did not come out so well when we lost our codes. But we did it, ”he said.

Some presented projects focused on the environmental awarenessin view of the deterioration that the planet has suffered in recent years.

“We seek the protection of reefs, Then we create a kind of mesh to aware. This project arose with the support of all our colleagues, who gave us the idea, ”explained Allison Reyes, a fourth high school at the American Intercontinental College.

The young people participated in the categories Best robot design, best scientific project and best robot gamewith the aim of defining the winners.

The first four places will receive a Mention, trophies and diplomas.

In addition, the first place winning team will represent Guatemala in the world competition in HoustonUnited States, before delegations from 178 countries.

Last year, the winning team was originally from San Juan Sacatepéquez and the Ulew Kotz Institute ” i ‘J, and showed the necessary skills to compete in the United States.
