Turkey Business Delegation explores trade and investment opportunities in Guatemala

A business delegation of the Economic Board of Foreign Relations of Türkiye (Türkiye) conducted a visit to Guatemala from February 21 to 24, and meeting with businessmen and government authorities.

The objective and meetings is to explore new opportunities for commercial exchange, investment and cooperation in strategic sectors, in addition to the emphasis on strengthening ties between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) reported.

The sectors to explore investment areas are infrastructure, technology, renewable energy and agriculture.

Meetings were had with Guatemalan companies and the Memorandum of Understanding with the Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce to open new opportunities for trade and mutual cooperation, while the Government gave them information to help them identify business opportunities.

The delegation had a meeting with business representatives such as Marco Solares, of the Coordinating Committee of Commercial Associations of Guatemala (CACIF), and Jorge Briz, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala (CCG).

Julio Eduardo Orozco, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala also participated; Beliz Celasin Rende, Turkey Ambassador to Guatemala, Yaprak Balkan, General Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye; ALI GALIP İLTER, Deputy Coordinator of the Business Councils of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Economic Board of Foreign Relations of Türkiye (DEIK).

Meetings were held between Guatemalan businessmen and Deik members, in which they discussed possible commercial associations, in addition a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the CCG and Deik.

The Chamber of Commerce reported on its social networks that it received the official visit of the Turkish delegation, composed of 25 entrepreneurs from the telecommunications, education, technology, security, and commodities sectors.

The entity added that the agreement will strengthen commercial cooperation between the two countries and that the main objective promote commercial exchange, contribute to industrial and technological collaboration, coordinate joint efforts to collect and disseminate strategic information in commercial, technological and investments matters, and identify and overcome obstacles in bilateral trade.

The CCG added that the institutions agreed to hold annual meetings by alternating venues between Guatemala and Türkiye, as well as promoting activities such as fairs, exhibitions, business missions and specific sector meetings to maximize mutual opportunities.

The meetings coincide with the political consultation mechanism that was held in the Foreign Ministry of Guatemala on February 21 and this strengthens the dialogue and diplomatic relations between the two countries, it was indicated.

The MINEX reported that last Friday, the III Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism between Guatemala and Turkey was held in Guatemala, with the aim of promoting dialogue and bilateral political agreement and ensuring the continuity of a cooperation every time more fruitful and effective in bilateral, regional and multilateral planes.
