Five structural fires were reported in the last hours in the metropolitan area and in Retalhuleu, according to volunteer firefighters and municipal firefighters.
The accidents were recorded in sectors of Villa Nueva, Mixco and Retalhuleu, where the losses were incalculable, since the fire destroyed a mechanics workshop, a vehicle property, a furniture store and two homes.
Volunteer firefighters reported that a fire on a vehicle property was recorded on Tuesday, March 25 in a workshop located on the 9th Avenue and 6th Street in Zone 6 of Villa Nueva.
Víctor Gómez, spokesman for volunteer firefighters, indicated that elements of five companies worked in the place to attack the fire from three points and prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses.
In this case, 8,950 gallons of water were used to control the fire.

Another fire
The municipal firefighters reported that on Tuesday there was a structural fire in a house located on the 8th 11-55 avenue of the La Verbena neighborhood, zone 7 of the capital.
In that place, the losses have not been quantified, and it is unknown how the fire began.
Rafael Zúñiga, spokesman for the municipal firefighters, indicated that water was launched directly to prevent the fire from spreading; In addition, assistance was provided to property owners.
That same relief body reported that, on the Mateo Flores 45-63 road, zone 3 of Mixco, a furniture store was consumed by the flames.
“The incident command system was implemented to take advantage of resources and attack the fire in different areas,” the lifeguards detailed.
In that place, the losses were several thousand Quetzales, but the managers have not established the total amount.
