The Public Ministry (MP) reported that the proceedings led by the Prosecutor’s Office against the crime of femicide take place this Wednesday, March 26, in monitoring of investigations of a criminal structure dedicated to committing various crimes, including illegal association, aggravated robbery and murder.
He added that among the facts attributed to the structure called “motorcycle thieves” is the one that occurred on January 21, 2025, approximately at 4 pm, When members of the criminal group would have killed Ingrid Amanda Morente Catalán, Second Captain of Transmissions of the Army of Guatemala.
The armed attack was recorded on the Roosevelt road, in the capital.
On January 22, the National Civil Police (PNC) reported that it maintained as a hypothesis that Morente Catalán could have been killed in a direct attack when driving through a sector of the Roosevelt road.
The fact was documented in video, which shows that the vehicle in which Catalan Morente was driving tried to close two individuals who pursued and maneuvered to join the right lane.
The PNC indicated that 20 search, inspection, registration and kidnapping of evidence in Guatemala, Mixco, Villa Nueva, Amatitlán and Palencia are in development.
