The Municipal Transit Police (PMT) of the city of Guatemala and the Metropolitan Entity Regulatory Transport and Transit (Emetra) will implement during Lent and Holy Week a drone monitoring system, which could remain permanently to take actions in the regulation of traffic, it was reported this Wednesday, March 26.

Amílcar Montejo, head of communication of Emetra, said that, with monitoring from the air, land coordination and use of technology for decision making, users and neighbors benefit.

He added that the system, called Aerovial, is included in Plan 45 for Lent and Holy Week.

In a video that accompanies the publication of Montejo, it is reported that, with the use of drones, the PMT analysis and response capacity is raised.

Thanks to Aerovial, the PMT air monitoring system, now we can detect traffic patterns, diagnose problems and act precisely, the publication refers.

He adds that, with Aerovial, strategic solutions are designed, optimizing mobility and reducing the risk of accidents.

In zone 12 and zone 15, we identify vehicular behaviors that affected fluidity, such as high -speed entry from road to El Salvador and improper use of auxiliary lanes, says the publication.

Add: This system is key to the 45 -day plan, our mobility strategy that we are implementing for this Holy Week. With drones in the air and agents in the field we coordinate alternate routes, monitor vehicular flow and guarantee a more efficient mobility for thousands of citizens.
