The president of El Salvador reported on the arrest of nine alleged drug traffickers – seis Guatemalans and three Ecuadorians – in Pacific waters of that country, with a cargo of cocaine valued at about US $ 32.5 million.

Six alleged Guatemalan drug traffickers and three Ecuadorians were intercepted this Wednesday, March 26 in Pacific Aguas de El Salvador, where, according to President Nayib Bukele, they participated in the transaction of 1.3 tons of cocaine, which was confiscated by the National Navy.

According to Bukele, elements of the National Navy of El Salvador intercepted a vessel with three alleged drug traffickers of Guatemalan nationality, who, according to an X of the president, said they expected a cargo of cocaine at 507 nautical miles southwest of the mouth the cordoncillo.

Then, a second boat with three Guatemalans approached the same place, stating that they came to help the boat in charge of collecting the drug further south. With this information, our elements quickly mobilized the area where they would receive the drug, the Salvadoran president continued.

Bukele added in his message that, to 920 nautical miles (about 1,704 kilometers) southwest of La Bocana El Cordoncillo, the National Navy located a third boat with three alleged Ecuadorian drug traffickers, who transported some 1.3 tons of cocaine, valued at approximately US $ 32.5 million.

The National Navy intercepted the three vessels involved in drug trafficking activities. The first two were responsible for logistics support and drug reception. During the last year, 27.2 tons of drugs have been seized, valued at approximately US $ 681.1 million, Bukele’s message ends.
