The inquiries for the murder of Irvin Isaí Hernández Aguilar, Jonnathan Cristian Alveño Lemus and Alejandro Antonio Cisneros Valdez took the Public Ministry (MP) and the National Civil Police (PNC) to pave two houses located in Zone 15 capital.
“We had information that they could have hidden in those residences and that there would also have hidden firearms,” said one of the investigators of the case, about the investigations that have been made.
The proceedings in the Vista Hermosa 2 and Residential Colonia San Rafael, both in zone 15, were carried out 10 days after the shooting. The authorities were looking for Luis Zúñiga and Carlos Calderón Zúñiga, main suspects, according to the testimonies so far collected by the authorities.
That Tuesday, March 18, during the raids, the authorities identified in one of the properties an employee of the National Commission against the corruption of the Presidency, a worker of the judicial agency and an entrepreneur member of the Board of Directors of the National Forest Institute (INAB).
The MP reported that in the raids it was not possible to stop Zúñiga and Calderón, but indications were seized that will strengthen the case, including a cell phone that contributes to the inquiries.
Research
The MP308-2024-639 file is in charge of the Jalapa District Prosecutor’s Office, and it was Braulio Hernández Ramírez, judge of first criminal instance of that department who authorized the search warrants in the capital.
“We had the location of other homes where they could have found more indications or even the subjects of the armed attack, but the judge did not authorize those proceedings,” said one of the investigators in charge of the case.
The failed attempt to capture the three suspects was frustrated and one of the hypotheses is that they were informed before the operations, which would have given them time to escape. The hypothesis is supported by a cell phone that was confiscated in one of the raided homes, which after the forensic analysis was determined that there were conversations that show a possible escape of information to protect Zúñiga and Calderón.
Who were in the houses?
The raids in zone 15 They were made 143 kilometers from the crime scene. The Specialized Division in Criminal Investigation of the PNC identified San Rafael to Jorge Enrique Calderón Rodas, head of the Guatemala Forest Training and Member of the Inab Board of Directors, and his son Jorge Daniel Calderón Zúñiga, director of Strengthening and Mechanism for the detection of the National Commission against Corruption, father and brother of Carlos Calderón Zúñiga, respectively.
Calderón Rodas is dad of Carlos Calderón Zuñiga and brother -in -law of Luis Zuñiga, the two main suspects of the triple crime in San Manuel Chaparrón.
Jorge Daniel informed that after the raids he decided to resign his position in the National Commission against Corruption, to avoid a conflict of interest in the case. The commission confirmed that Calderón presented his resignation for personal reasons on March 19, just one day after the operation in his residence.
The ex -employed commission ensures that his brother is not guilty of what is imputed to him, on the contrary, in the incident he was a victim.

“My brother was in the wrong place, but neither Luis Zúñiga shot or committed homicide,” he said.
Jorge Enrique Calderón Zúñiga said that his son Carlos Calderón and Luis Zúñiga are good people, and who had traveled from the capital to Jalapa to attend a jaripeo.
He indicated that both are fugitives from justice, but that they will appear before a judge. However, they fear for their life if they are sent to a jail.
“They do not want to live fugitives all their lives and want to clarify their situation, but they consider that this is not the right time,” he said.
In the second home, in the Vista Hermosa 2 neighborhood, Elvia Villeda Cerna, office worker of the Support Unit for the National Service of Judicial Facilitators was identified. According to the researchers, that address was registered in the name of Luis Zúñiga and had solid suspicions that he was in that place, but when reviewing they did not locate it.
The PNC authorities affirmed that they analyze a red alert in Interpol for suspicion that suspects have fled the country.
Threats and background
One of the witnesses in the shooting declared the Police that Alveño was a lender and had conflicts with members of organized crime, which could have motivated the attack.
On this extreme, on January 23, 2020, the PNC arrested him in flagrance in El Progreso, Jutiapa, during an operation against bands dedicated to drug trafficking.
Subsequently, on July 14 of the same year he was captured again in the Las Casitas neighborhood, Agua Blanca, Jutiapa, for an arrest warrant for theft. He was sent to the El Boquerón prison, in Cuilapa, Santa Rosa.
The authorities did suspect that Alveño integrated a criminal structure that operated in Blanca, Ipala, San Manuel Chaparrón and nuns, Jalapa, With support from local authorities, who are part of another investigation that remains open.
The video of the armed attack
In a first video of 1 minute with 47 seconds, two groups are observed discussing and struggling with weapons in hand. As the tension increases, some attendees withdraw from the colosseum.
Alveño, with coffee shirt and black cap, allegedly attacks Luis Zúñiga, who wears a white shirt. Try to sign up with a weapon, but another subject grabs his hand and begins a struggle.

Zúñiga tries to stand up, draws her weapon, but Alveño takes it by the neck. In the 1.31 minute, Zúñiga moves away, he approaches his son, who gives him a weapon, and several detonations are heard, although it is not seen who shoots.
A second video, of 10 seconds, shows Alveño and others hitting Zúñiga with guns. A woman intervenes and takes Zúñiga’s arm, who bleeds from the thorax. In the second six, a subject with green shirt and black cap begins to shoot. At least 12 bullets are heard and people run from the place.
The researchers consider that the shooting could have started by a fight, although they still try to identify the other armed subjects. In addition, they do not rule out a struggle between organized crime groups.
Villada Cerna was requested for the raids in his residence, but did not respond the calls or messages.
