A man identified as an alleged collector of illegal loans known as “gota a gota” was captured this Tuesday, April 14, by agents from the 16th police station in the Lo de Fuentes neighborhood, zone 11 of Mixco, after having shot another person during an altercation, reported the National Civil Police (PNC).
The detainee, identified as Francisco “N.”, 49, was located inside a vehicle minutes after the attack. Upon identifying him, the authorities seized a pistol, three magazines and 52 ammunition, with his respective carrying license.
According to police information, the man had arrived at the location to collect a debt from a woman. When an agreement was not reached, another individual intervened, which led to a confrontation in which the latter was injured by a gunshot.
The incident occurred on 12th Street and 14th Avenue, Lo de Fuentes neighborhood, where the 34-year-old victim suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and back. Emergency medical technicians from the Municipal Firefighters stabilized her at the scene and took her to the emergency room of the San Juan de Dios General Hospital.
The authorities are investigating whether the case is linked to illegal loans under the “drop by drop” modality.
