A second agent of the National Civil Police (PNC), accused of integrating the illegal taxi drivers’ band called “Pirates of death”, He was captured this Thursday, April 3 in San Pablo, San Marcos, police sources reported.
The General Subdirectorate of Criminal Investigation of the PNC, together with the Public Ministry (MP), executed on March 2 28 raids in search of members of that band, syndicated of assaults and at least 23 homicides.
This is the PNC Milton agent “L”, 37, resident in the La Cumbre Caserío, of the aforementioned municipality.
The detention of the agent was executed for there is an arrest warrant against him for the possible commission of the crimes of illicit association, passive bribery and abuse of authority, according to the police.
The MP had reported that there was an arrest warrant against the agent, indicated to collaborate with pirate taxi drivers.
He added that he possibly had links with employees and bars owners, who were responsible for making fraudulent transactions with the credit and debit cards of the victims.
He also indicated that the agent allegedly performed surveillance and assembled operations when people left the bars.
How they operated
The MP explained that the first case was identified in January 2023 and the last one, in August 2024. This criminal phenomenon was recorded in the department of Guatemala and is related to pirate taxi pilots.
These captured their victims in canteens and expenditures of alcoholic beverages. When people were drunk, they were approached, they were invited to consume more drinks and, when they gained their trust, they offered them to take them to their residences, the police said.
The investigations revealed that the pilots adulterated the drinks to leave their victims unconscious, strip them of their belongings and Use your bank cards to make purchases. Subsequently, they abandoned them on public roads.
They, unfortunately, died from poisoning, not receiving medical care, adds the police report.
At least 40 criminal acts are attributed to this structure, of which 23 resulted in deaths.
In addition, the authorities indicated that, to commit the crimes, they used at least 19 vehicles that operated as a pirate taxis.
