Antigua GFC beat Malacateco 2-1 this Sunday at the Pensativo Stadium on matchday 21 of the 2026 Clausura Tournament with early goals from Agustín Maziero and Oscar Santis that sealed the match.
Mauricio Tapia’s colonials recovered from the defeat against Guastatoya the previous day and have three points that take them to fourth place in the Clausura with 33 points, while Malacateco reaches the last day in a compromised situation in the accumulated table.
The match started in the best way for Antigua. At minute 2, Agustín Maziero closed a cross at the far post to open the scoring at 1-0, and at minute 17 Oscar Santis took a powerful free kick that took a slight deflection and ended up in the back of Miguel Jiménez’s goal for 2-0. The colonials dominated the first minutes with authority and seemed headed for a rout, but Malacateco scored in the 45th minute with a goal from Kevin Ramírez to make it 2-1 before the break.
Old scale and Malacateco in danger
In the second half, Antigua maintained control of the game but without managing to seriously complicate goalkeeper Jiménez to increase the score. The Toros made several changes looking for a tie but did not find the necessary spaces to equalize, and the final result of 2-1 was maintained until the final whistle in a match where the colonials controlled without major upsets.
With this victory Antigua GFC rises to fourth place in Clausura 2026 with 33 points and reaches the last day with options to continue climbing the competition table. The avocado trees remain in third position in the accumulated table with 75 points and close the tournament in a good moment of form.
Malacateco, for its part, remains in tenth position in the Clausura with just 19 points and reaches the last day with a compromised situation in the accumulated table, where the Toros will have to give everything if they want to avoid relegation to the First Division. With Mictlán, Guastatoya and Malacateco equal in the danger zone, the last date promises to be of maximum tension in the lower part of the classification
