Nomination Commission holds session to integrate the list of six candidates

The Nominating Commission for the election of Attorney General and Head of the Public Ministry (MP) meets this Monday, April 20, to join the list of six candidates that will be transferred to the President of the Republic, Bernardo Arévalo.

The election of the next attorney general is part of the second degree elections in Guatemala.

The Commission concluded the qualification phase of candidates after a day that lasted until the early hours of Saturday, April 18, and defined the nine candidates who advanced in the process.

After the qualification process, only nine applicants exceeded the 75 points established as the minimum grade, although at least 12 profiles were required to make up the roster.

In the process, 48 ​​people were evaluated with the grading table, which measured aspects such as academic preparation, professional experience and ethics. Only nine passed the qualification required to advance to the next phase.

The session continues to define who could be the country’s next attorney general. The position is currently held by Consuelo Porras.
