Armed men attack diners and leave six dead and two injured

Unknown individuals broke into a cevicheria in zone 6 of the capital this Monday, April 20, and shot four men and two women to death, in addition to wounding two other people, including a 5-year-old child, emergency services reported.

According to Víctor Gómez, spokesperson for the Volunteer Firefighters, the bodies of three men and two women were left at the scene, apparently diners at the business, who died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Three injured people were transferred in a delicate condition to the emergency room of the San Juan de Dios General Hospital by the Municipal Firefighters, but one of them died upon admission.

Neighbors alerted the Municipal Firefighters about firearm detonations on 18th Avenue and 8th Street, Zone 6, so emergency units were sent to the scene.

For his part, José Santizo, spokesperson for the Municipal Firefighters, reported that two people were injured: a 5-year-old boy and a man of about 27, who were transferred in critical condition to a care center.

Relatives and acquaintances arrived at the scene and indicated that at least three of the deceased worked as tuc tuc drivers and were originally from San Antonio Las Flores.

This is the second armed attack recorded in zone 6 in the last few hours and, according to testimonies, both events would have been against tuc tuc pilots.

Authorities secured the scene and are continuing the investigation. The causes of the attack are unknown at this time.
